says to ALL: The patrol was determined to find her...the missing free woman. There had been stories of sightings of her out here but the further we travelled, the more despondent I felt at finding her. We hadn't even found any signs of her out this way.
I should have bought Freki! The trusty sleen surely would have found her. He might even know her scent. Had he been taken to her when she was a slave here and told to "learn slave" by sniffing her all over? It was possible and even though many, many years had passed since then, sleens never forgot a scent.

Perhaps the Mistress had gone the way of Pudding? Maybe they were together!

says to ALL: I thought more about Mistress Askatla, Pudding and Freki. Freki may even have learnt pudding's scent. I had heard that Donar's slave, selina had been as vigilant with him as I had been, getting him to learn the scents of slaves in case they went missing....or runaway.
Maybe Jarl Thor might allow us to use him. I would have begged my Jarl to buy him from the Stewart but I felt safe knowing he was there, looking after the children.

says to ALL: We trekked so far, eventually reaching the mountains which was where most of the sightings had been reported. The weather was dismal...harsh even and my heart sank to think of what the chances might be of her surviving this long without the right protection.

Why didn't she just stay in the barn? Distrusting bond-maid. It wasn't my intention for her to be collared by my Jarl. I was trying to help her! If I had known she would abscond this way and put herself at risk of these northern, dangerous elements, I would have just left her at the docks. A collar would have better than this! Surely it would have been....

says to ALL: And then I heard it! The men up ahead, calling out in excited voices. The rest of us picked up the pace and I was aware of my heart pounding rapidly. Was it her? Was she alive? I began to run, passing by the men and other water bearing slaves, here like me as mere beasts of burden.

says to ALL: What they had found was a bit disappointing and yet, it also presented some hope. A camp site within a cave. A fire long since dead was in the center of it and there were furs too, a warm bed for her to sleep on. It was clear no one had been here in some hands and it might not have even been where she had stayed. BUT what if she did? It would show she had some survival skills and could fend for herself. Where was she now though? The question remained and even more worrying were the reports of recent kurii sightings.....

   says to ALL: There was an excited buzz going around in the patrol. This was what we needed to spur us on and we all moved a little faster now, searching for clues with a more hopeful attitude. So intent was I in finding her, I didn't realize how far I was wandering from the group. They too didn't notice. It was only when the silence of the mountains gave me a sense of unease that I turned to look for the others. They were nowhere to be seen.

   Oh no! Running back the way I had come, following the trail of footsteps in the snow. My heart fell as I a snowflake fell upon me. If I didn't find them soon, not only would my tracks be lost, but so would theirs! The snowfall became heavier and the wind picked up. It was a blizzard! I needed to find that cave. Not only for protection but also because I was certain that was where the patrol would be

   says to ALL: Lifting my left arm to cover my face and lowering my head into the sleet filled wind, I trudged on, blinded by the onslaught of sleet and snow against me. Thank goodness I was wearing my thick fur and the fur lined boots suitable for snow.

   It felt like I had been walking for ahns and the struggle with the freshly fallen snow and the forceful wind were taking its toll on me. I was exhausted. But I struggled on weakly, trying to hear the sounds of voices over the howl of the wind.
