It isn't widely known by many other than the slaves and a few free, that one of the items on the training checklist is as follows;[ ] Looking at the maps on the web-site, role play walking around the village and the hall grounds. Using the Norse links and your Gorean knowledge, mention some of the daily sights you might see at various points as well as describe the buildings and landscape
The training checklist guide further explains this and provides information regarding the expectations of this criteria;
This checklist item is designed to educate you on the layout of the village and hall surroundings as well as the pulldowns available in the room. Additionally, it encourages you to be able to visualize what the Isle looks like and the daily activities you might see on Scagnar. The more effort you put into doing this, the more comfortable you will be in your new home and the better the understanding you will gain. If completed properly, it will also enable you to become familiar with the Norse and Gorean information available on our website. It is hoped you will continue to study and learn about the Isle and include these descriptions and sights in your role play even after completing this. This journey is often more enjoyable and educational if conducted with someone else of the home, however, doing so isn't mandatory.
Runa is currently in need of her walk around the Isle. It can be more enjoyable as well as more educational if one or more others do this with her. It doesn't have to be done in one go. The script can be added to in increments, depending on whatever RT allows.
Perhaps if you have a favorite haunt in the village, you might take her there; describe how it looks (as well as explaining which pull down to use) maybe you know of a bit of history in that region and would like to share that story with her. Perhaps you know of a way to relate information from Marauders of Gor to the area you are walking through (such as Hazel Wands and the very detailed account of what they are) Perhaps you can be describing one of the lodges you pass in the village and can provide her with a link from our website about Vikings Longhouses....speak about what they might be made of. Describe the fish drying racks you might see
by the fish sheds. Maybe some bonds are stooped over, carrying sacks of salt on their backs as they walk down the gangplank (as was depicted in Marauders) Asking questions along the way (such as "tell me what you see" also encourages the person you are assisting to do some quick research.It is something that can be enjoyable for all who participate. Runa has done this before and is already quite knowledgeable about the Isle, it can be an opportunity to perhaps swap information and stories.
This is one of my favourite items on the checklist. It's a lot of fun to do with a person in training. Anyone can assist the slaves with this, free and slave (including non-trainers) alike.
It's been far too long since I had the walk around the Isle so I'll also do it.....And also review the maps to get used to where everything is.
Good pick up.
I'll fix it when I get back.
I don't know why the link to the village didn't work here. I tried to repost it, but the board won't let me. It can however, be accessed from our webpage.
It's always helpful for the new girls to carry the maps with them when they do this (It's even helpful for some of us oldies, I still refer to them)
The maps for the Village (newly updated by the wonderful nyr!) and the hall grounds can be found on the Isle webpage under the home section. Here are the links;Jomsbourg Village
